Bad breath is something most people are hyper-aware of . It's unattractive and embarrassing. There are many causes of bad breath:
Food: Certain foods like garlic, onions, milk and coffee can cause bad breath. The solution is to avoid these foods, or just make sure you exercise proper hygiene after consuming these items.
Dry Mouth: If your mouth isn't producing enough saliva, your mouth isn't self-cleaning like it should, which allows for bad breath to develop. Sometimes dry mouth is out of a person's control, for instance those who naturally breath through the mouth have a higher incidence of dry mouth as do those on various medications.
Smoking: For so many reasons, such as overall health, staining your teeth and the smell, smoking and tobacco usage are bad for your health, and can irritate your gums causing further bad breath.
Gum disease: Gum disease is suspect if you have bad breath that no matter what you do, won't go away, or a bad taste that won't leave. Gum disease begins with the production of plaque that is not removed from the teeth.
Health Problems: Often times the first indicator of health problems such as acid reflux, diabetes or problems with the liver is bad breath. If you are noticing a chronic problem, please call your doctor.
