If you're considering braces, or currently have them, you might have some questions! Below are answers to some of our most frequent inquiries:

How is going to an orthodontist for braces different than going to a dentist?

All orthodontists ARE dentists, but they also receive and extra 2-3 years of specialized training to improve smiles, straighten the teeth and correct jaw issues such as misalignment - amongst a myriad of other jaw and mouth issues.

With braces, do I still need to see my general dentist?

Yes! You should still see your dentist for a cleaning and exam every six months. They will clean around braces, but may request your wire removed prior to your appointment for a more thorough cleaning, especially if general hygiene is an issue.

Do braces hurt?

With the initial placement of the appliances, and when new wires are added there can be mild discomfort and soreness for the first few days. Soft, cool foods and over the counter pain meds can help mitigate any discomfort.

How often are appointments?

Appointments once braces are on are generally every 4-8 weeks.

What is the cost of braces?

Braces vary based on the type of treatment and appliances, but insurance frequently covers a chunk. We also have in-house, interest free financing.

How long do I have to wear braces or aligners?

General treatment length is 6 months-2.5 years plus wearing a retainer once treatment ends.

Can I still play sports?

Absolutely! Dependent on the sport, you might want to consider a custom mouth-guard.
